craft hope: bracelets for orphans

i need your help.  there is  an organization i recently learned about called Craft Hope.  they are an organization that organizes efforts to offer comfort and hope to victims of tragedy.  June 15th is the due date for their latest project and it's rapidly approaching.

Craft Hope's orphan outreach project is to is gather as many hoMeMAdE bRacELeTs as possible.  these bracelets will be taken to Russia by some amazing people and given to some of the many (1+ million) orphans over there.

i have to say though, i am usually a follower of the "don't let your left hand know what the right hand is doing" mentality (Matthew 6:3).  so i will simply say that i made at least one bracelet.  i am not looking for accolades or compliments.  i just figured that between this blog and facebook i could reach quite a few people.

i found out about this amazing mission on the incredible Ashley Ann's blog Under the Sycamore. it's a touching post to read.   Ashley used jersey fabric to create beautifully woven bracelets.  i'm not crafty or dexterious enough to make them how she did, but i found something that will work.

i cut strips from different colored t-shirts we no longer wear, so the materials didn't cost anything.  i knotted the ends together, braided, then knotted again.

it's not perfect by any means. it's quite obviously made by someone who was trying. it's not much, but i hope that i brings a smile to a special kiddos face.

the words of Jesus:
"Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me."

--Mark 9: 37

so i encourage you to join me in this project.
grab some yarn, so fabric, strings-n-beads, whatever.
make some brAcELetS, make some sMiLEs
postage will only be a few dollars, but what price can compare
to the difference YOU will be making?

i'm not a large blog by any means,
but if each one of you made 5,
              that would be 250 cHiLdrEN
that would receive a blessed reminder that they are LoVEd

so. i cHaLLenGE you to make some bracelets.
i enCOurAgE you to write a post to spread the word among your followers.
i tHaNK you for taking the time to think of these children.

**remember: the deadline June 15, 2011**

  2. I love following craft hope and their projects. I extended this project onto my girls' Daisy Scout Troop and we made bracelets for this cause. It was such an awesome project for the little girls.

  3. Andie,
Thanks so much for stopping by My Life His Mission. I am following your blog too. You have so many cute ideas. I really like the soap and sanitizer redo's that you did. My soap container taunts me too. I may just have to try that.
