as i was eMpTYinG tHe diSHwaSHeR tonight, Bear came over and told me he was going to help me.
1. Tell him nO because I wanted to hurry up and get it done.
OR
2. Gladly aCCepT his help and encourage his eagerness to help out with
household activities...Which would build his self-esteem, sense of
autonomy, and overall spirit.
and you know what? he did really well. he stacked the bowls on the counter.
took the dishes out of the dishwasher and laid them out to dry.

what types of things do you do to encourage
your child's independence?

Bless him! My boys love to help with most tasks, actually I can't think of anything they haven't! They even have their own mini washing up brushes, so long as its not dangerous I will let the boys help.
I'm starting small chores with my boys now. Mostly they only put away laundry and empty trash through the house. But, I'm thinking of starting dishes soon. :)
I let the girls help whenever they want. (Okay a few times I do not- if I am in a hurry- but then I tell them why they can't help right now.)
They love to fold laundry and put the laundry back to the closets. They help to clean, cook, bake... whatever. I always try to find a way to let them help (as long as they still want to help...).
What a good mommy! :)
You are so fabulous! Just wanted to let you know that I am doing a shout out to you tomorrow and there is a new toot that I think you will love!!
