patchwork mod podge collage

i found the most amazing inspiration the other day at The Creative Paige

located here
for our attempt at this method, we used an old nursery canvas that i had made for Bear when i was pregnant.  see the elephant?

i painted the side first.  then we spread modge podge on it and went to stickin'!!!

after we were done, i coated it down in mod podge again.  while it dried, i cut out a stencil of a heart.  i did it old school because i don't have a silhouette or anything.
then i laid the stencil down, traced around it, and painted it white.  Paige was right that it does take quite a few coats of white paint to cover all the papers.

we hung it in our preschool area.  everytime i look at it, it makes me smile...
because it's pretty...
but mostly because i made it with my bubby.

what's on your wall that makes you smile?
