all i have to say is i love pinterest.  i mean....rEaLLy lOVe iT.  if you haven't tried it, check it out sometime.   in a sentence pinterest is a virtual bulletin board.  i'm horrible at explaining things... so here's a great blog about what pinterest actually is from While He Was Napping

the awesome part too is that you can follow people who's pins interest you! yAy!!

the only downside is that depending on when you try to start an account, there is a waitlist.  i had to wait a week or so until i was "invited."  but if you want to sign up today, give me a comment or email.  if you are a follower of mine, i will send you an invite so you can sTaRT piNNiNG!!!

lucky streak

seems i've hit a bit of a LuCKy streak!  i won a giveaway at Heck Fridays!  i just found Heck Fridays not too long ago and was an immediate follower.  here are some of my favorite posts:

 it was for an item from Tara at Little Lady Designs.  so of course, i scooted right over to her webpage to check out her goodies!!  she has the. cutest. stuff.  look at these gOOdiES:

i'm usually cOLd, especially at night after my showers. i wear stocking caps/beanie hats around the house pretty much every night. i have enough that i can coordinate them to my pajamas...(i can hear you laughing).  i'm wearing a gray cashmere one right now. so i chose the crochet cable knit beanie....it's so soft and cozy!! and the color is the most gorgeous moSSy grEEn!  and it's toasty!  keeps my cold, wet head wARm while i do my homework.

keeping a toddler busy

this is a continuation of my previous post "when a toddler helps you paint"

we are installing laminate flooring in our liv-din-itchen (our L-shaped combo room).

here's how my 2.5 yEaR oLd liTTLe buDDy helped me lay the flooring...

i gave him one of the art markers i was using to mark the cuts and let him draw on the pad on the underside of the planks.  kept him busy, he had fun, and i thought it'd be a laugh for whoever pulled up the floor in 40 years.

when we were looking for colors, i grabbed several samples.  after we picked our color, we gave them to Bear.  here he is "cutting" them... 



let 'em run...



i knew there was going to be now way to keep him out of the workspace, so i just let him go.  and see that blue painters tape? secret trick to keeping seams together when you're locking boards into place.  pLUs i put them in place and Bear came and pushed them flat on the boards

other useful items for keeping him busy were:
shop vac accessories
plastic level
plastic tape measure

m.i.a.

i've been m.i.a. lately, haven't i?  i've been tearing up carpet and laying laminate.  by myself.  hubs has been doing cuts for me.  but the laying?  aLL. mE.  it's awesome.  but i have muscles that hurt that i didn't even know i had.  we're in the process of busting up the ceramic tile that was construction adhesive-d to the cement board.  yes.  coNsTRuctiON aDhESiVe.

what i learned this week

this week has been a hODgE-poDGe of happenings. 

a couple lessons from this week:

1.  don't give a 2 year old a hoSE unless you want to get wEt  


  2.  seeing your child blow a bUBbLe for the 1st tiMe is positively amazing 

3.  a roll of scotch tApE lends itself to diSCoVeRY

4.  piCNiCs aren't just for teddy bears  ((dogs get hUNgrY, too))

5.  maTChBoX cars are fun for kids of aNY aGe

6.  nAPs are good for the sOuL

7.  laMiNAtE isn't as easy to inSTaLL as it lOOks ((i'mma take a 2nd whirl at it))

 nothing pRofOUnd by any means.  but that was our week.

gift bag art

i've been eyeing this giftbag and the coordinating products at target for a while.  i LoVe the design, but didn't know what i'd do with it.  was there with Bear and saw it on a clearance endcap for $2.18 (or somewhere close to that).  of course, i snapped it up jUSt beCAuSe.  as we were finishing up our shopping i figured it out.

once we got home, i pulled out an old frame i had.  next i attempted to disguise the fact that it was indeed a giFt bAg.  i pulled the ribbon handle out of the back side that was folded.  then i glued it on the other side (see it at the bottom?).  this kept me from having to do anything about removing the top ribbon handle and subsequent holes it would leave behind.

overall, i'm diggin' it. 

it cost a little over $2. 

and it mAkES mE sMiLe whenever i look at it.
