a while back, there were several nights that Bear chose not to eat dinner. about an hour afterwards, he would ask for a snack. on the fourth night or so, we told him that if he chose not to eat, he would have to wait until bedtime snack. by an hour before snack, my sweet Bear came to me crying and saying desperately,

momma i’m hungry!
as my heart was twisted, of course, i got him a snack. but i can’t fathom being in that same situation as some other parents and knowing that

i couldn’t go into the kitchen and get him something to eat.

can you imagine that?

  1. We can help these kids to have a better life!

  2. I can not believe in this day and age this is happening. I know its going on here in the UK too, as well as pretty much every so called 'developed' nation, makes me wonder what exactly we have developed into when children can go hungry. I'm going to find something similar here in the UK, thanks for highlighting this.

  3. I am so grateful that I don't have to worry about being able to feed my family! I taught at a high school where the majority of students qualified for free breakfast and lunch, but it never looked like much food for a growing teenager to me – and certainly wasn't the healthiest fare. And they probably still weren't getting (much) dinner…

  4. The thought of hungry kids makes me so sad, especially when I look around at all of the restaurants popping up around me that are always packed, knowing that people are easily spending forty dollars a plate in many of them. Harvest Heartland is a great place in our area to donate. They are able to multiply the good old dollar to buy an incredible amount of food. Also, if you have a party at your house, make it a "bring something for the food shelf party". I love to have friends over, and they don't ever seem to mind bringing a couple things to put in a bag for the hungry. It isn't a lot, but every little bit can add up to a big bit. 🙂

  5. Thank you for this post about the show and the campaign. We appreciate your support!
