using the book as inspiration, we went on a scavenger hunt to find items that corresponded with the colors from the book. Bear got to use my camera to take the pictures. as he looked for the items, i read our version of the book. like this...
little Bear, little Bear, what do you see?
red bird = red lid yellow duck = yellow dot blue horse = blue dot
green frog = green purple cat = purple white dog = white sock
garbage truck dinosaur
black sheep = black gold fish = gold ring teacher = Mommablanket

ReplyDeleteOhhh what a fun activity to go with the book. We love the book (I keep having to get it out of the library really need to get our own copy as I am sure others would love to read it as well)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun extension for a classic and all time favorite book!
ReplyDeleteThat is really clever, my daughter loves to use the camera but to combine it with a scavenger hunt is genius!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my son's favorites. He has it memorized and will "read" it to us. He would have fun with a scavenger hunt inspired by the book. :) I love your line "keep thinking outside the crayon box" btw!
ReplyDeleteWe've borrowed this book fromt he library before... the scavenger hunt idea was a good one and I especially like that he got to photograph the things himself! I think Maddie would just love doing that. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! I've been reading Eric Carle for over 10 years now. My first baby just turned 10. Now I'm enjoying them again with my 2 year old. It never gets old!
