A few weeks ago, we got a copy of the Sun Scholars 12 Week Summer Program to review and a copy to giveaway to a lucky reader! The program is chock-full of unique and fun summer activities. You can purchase the entire 12 week program here for $30. how exciting is that!!
If you've never visited the Sun Scholars site before, I have to tell you, I've found it to be one of the best resources out there in terms of having a wealth of activities. in addition to her own posts, Rachel has a major link party on Fridays. The amount of links her readers supply is impressive. She also has an A++ page where readers can see popular posts from each party. Now, onto the 12 Week Summer Program...
There are 12 thematic units that cover multiple academic topics like art, math reading, and science. A few of the themes are The Great Outdoors, Beach Party, and Back to School. There is an activity book that acts as a guide for the order of the activities. Some amazing and creative printables have been created to supplement many of the activities. An the awesome thing is that the activity book is created so that if you wanted to cut it in half and put it on a binder ring for a quick activity ideas, you could do that, too!
Bear and I tried the Painted Rocks activity (from The Great Outdoors unit) because on of his latest interests is to collect them from our front planters. Bear chose his paint colors and went right to town. the bonus of creating these rocks, the kiddos are preparing them to be used in another activity in the program. And that's my favorite part about this curriculum...The activities within each unit are intertwined with each other so well.
