Small Hands Creating Hope & Giveaway-closed

Like many families, ours is no stranger to the devastation that cancer wreaks on families.  Spring of 2012, we found out that my grandma, Gigi had cancer.  It was stage 4 and there was little hope of a full recovery, only prolonging her life for as long as possible.  After her first round of chemo, she got pnuemonia and passed on her birthday. There are so many emotions surrounding her passing.  I was devastated.  but I didn't cry...haven't really.  Because I know that she's up in Heaven with our Glorious Father fully restored and free from pain.  This belief gave me solace.  My only regret is that she never got to watch Bear grow up.  In her last days, one of her comments {to herself} was "you're never going to get to play with him.  and she was right....

So when MaryAnne from Mama Smiles blog asked for bloggers who wanted to participate in the Small Hands Creating Hope project, there was no hesitation on my part.  The project was inspired by MaryAnnes 30 year anniversary of being a cancer survivor!

We are hoping to raise $3000 by July 4th, so that, in the future, 30 years of cancer survivorship will be possible for everyone diagnosed, not the exception! Learn about each of the bloggers who participated in the book by visiting each blog on their assigned dates – a few bloggers will be running celebratory giveaways, too.

Small Hands Creating Hope

I'm part of a group of incredibly talented group of bloggers who focus on fun, creative, and education activities for kids! Each blogger participating in the project has worked with their children/students to create an art project that could be made by or for someone facing cancer. There are some beautiful projects in this book, with many tutorials so that you can recreate the crafts at home with your own children or students!
All of our projects have been compiled into an ebook, that will be sent out to anyone who donates at least $15 to the American Cancer Society. An email with the download link, as well as a second link that allows you to purchase a hard copy of the book at production cost will be sent once we receive your donation. If you donate but do not receive this email for any reason, or if you have trouble with the download, email smallhandsproject at gmail dot com.

Here's the project we contributed.  It's Bear and my handprints.

This button will take you directly to the American Cancer Society’s donation page:

  1. Oh Andie, I'm so sorry about your nana. Cancer truly does suck for everyone touched by it.

I think its amazing what you all are doing, treatments have come a long way from when my sister had cancer in the early 80's but so much more still needs to be done.

I shall be topping up our regular donation over here.
