The Dot by Peter Reynolds is one of our favorite books. i had wanted to explore crayon and watercolor resist, but this has never been something that interested Bear. so we tried it another way. I cut out a large circle from clear contact paper and a square with a circle hole in it to use as our "resist".
Bear mixed up the colors that he wanted using our liquid watercolors and empty applesauce containers. when he started painting, he was in fits of laughter that the watercolors beaded up on the contact paper. then once he figured out where they would paint, he really got into it.
after exploring the resist technique, we made lots of our own dots.
this is some of them hung up in our dot art gallery.

What a splendid dot gallery! Great idea to go along with the book :)
ReplyDeleteLittle stinkers when they don't want to go try our ideas. ;) I love the direction you went with it instead. Your gallery is lovely.
